Polish goalkeeping legend Jan Tomaszewski has sensationally accused Arsene Wenger of dishonesty, claiming the Frenchman made unkept promises to both Wojciech Szczesny and Poland manager Adam Nawalka regarding the former’s playing time.

Tomaszewski claims Wenger guaranteed Szczesny more playing time and first team involvement but didn’t uphold his word. He says that the arrival of Cech will only worsen Szczesny’s situation at the club and insists he should leave in search of first team football. According to reports in the Evening Standard, Tomaszewski had this to say:

“In January I spoke to Adam Nawalka and he said that Arsene Wenger had told him that if Szczesny worked hard in training he would play again soon.”

“It turned out that he didn’t tell the truth. I’m sure that when Szczesny said that he was going to stay at Arsenal, he didn’t know that Cech was going to come because Wenger didn’t tell him about his plans. Szczesny should leave, because it will be a waste of time for him, if he stays.”

It is not only the player’s club future that is in doubt however, as Szczesny has dropped to second choice in the Poland setup as well. Former Arsenal man Lukasz Fabianski has been in fine form for Swansea and has manged to supplant Szczesny in national colours. He played in both of Poland’s Euro 2016 qualifiers this month, causing much speculation to build around Szczesny’s future.

Tomaszewski says Szczesny is still a well respected figure in Poland, but he fear’s for the player and believes he could lose his place in the Poland squad all together if he is not playing first team football.

“I remember when I was in Dublin before the Republic of Ireland versus Poland match, everyone was asking me just one question: if Blaszczykowski and Szczesny would play. That meant everyone was afraid of him.”

“For me Wojciech is still Poland’s number one, world class goalkeeper but after Cech’s transfer he has no chance to play at Arsenal and for Poland. It could be end of his career in national team.”

Extraordinary remarks from Tomaszewski, and possibly the beginning of a firestorm. In Wenger’s defence, the boss has always been known for honesty and transparency, and most would have a hard time believing he would purposely deceive anyone.

The signing of Petr Cech was for the better of the team, and as the manger, Wenger he is not obligated to inform anyone of his plans let alone a player. As much as we rate Szczesny, his mistakes became a little too frequent and costly for our liking so the boss did what was necessary for Arsenal.

Case closed as far am I concerned. What do you think gooners? What did you make of Tomaszewski’s remarks?

For me I’ll say we ignore him because he is been selfish and over protective like he did not see sczesny’s errors and what it cost us. I think we need to ask him a question and the question should go like this “will he allow his house to burn fire out of eletrical fault because his uncle did the wiring job” ?
