Who are ya?

Stephane Sparagna has only just broken into the Marseille first-team, with gaffer Marcelo Bielsa giving the 19-year-old his debut against Bastia.

Sparagna is an athletic central defender who is strong in the air, has great awareness and brilliant recovery; he sounds like a mini Laurent Koscielny.

Arsene, spend some money

Sparagna, who has represented France at Under 20 level, is a free agent in December due to his youth contract expiring and is believed to already have an improved offer from Marseille, fellow Ligue 1 club Rennes, as well as Arsenal.

If Arsenal were to capitalise on the youngster’s contract expiration, it would be very similar to the scenario that brought Mathieu Flamini to north London the first time around.

Game changer?

Who knows?! But it would be nice to have a couple of youngsters in Stephane Sparagna and Calum Chambers at the heart of our defence for the next decade or so.
