Who?

Newcastle powerhouse Moussa Sissoko. Sissoko has impressed since his arrival in the Premier League last year and is known most for his brace against Chelsea last season which sent Newcastle on their way to a famous 3-2 win (looks like Newcastle are developing a habit of beating Chelsea). He is still at a good age of 25 and has shown he possesses the necessary attributes to excel in the top flight.

Where?

Sissoko joined Newcastle from Toulouse in 2013 after a six year stint at the French club. He spent his youth days in his native France with Esperance Aulnay and Red Star Paris before making the jump.

Arsene, spend some money

Various reports have placed a £16 million price tag on the player which I said before is a bit steep but is expected for a Premier League player. A good defensive midfielder is hard to come by and is never going to come cheap.

Believability factor-7

Sissoko could prove quite a cheeky buy. He is not cup tied and knows the rigors of the Premier League already. He has recently admitted that he “loves” Arsenal and that his ambition is to move to a big club and play in the Champions League. Sissoko said he grew up as an Arsenal fan as a kid and still holds admiration for the club.

I have ambition. My goal is to play at the best clubs, playing the Champions League, win trophies, but today I am a Magpie and I am very happy.

“Arsenal were my favourite club when I was young and my idol was Patrick Vieira. I have always loved this club and I still love them.”

Sounds like a come and get me plea if I’ve ever heard one, and Wenger just may opt to explore that option should he fail to land the likes of Scheiderlin, Bender, Gustavo or Carvalho who would undoubtedly cost much more.

Game changer?-Yes

Sissoko would qualify as a game changer as he is a step up from Arteta and Flamini. He fits the bill as the type of holding midfielder player Wenger allegedly told his scouts to look for; tall, strong, quick, intelligent, and good on the ball. He covers much more space then Arteta and Flamini and will provide much stronger cover in front of the back line I think. I still think Sissoko should be second choice after Schneiderlin or one of the aforementioned targets, but seeing as how he appears to be the most available option, he could be worth pursuing.
