Everyone looking forward to avenging last season’s 5-1 embarrassment that we suffered away at Anfield against Liverpool? Good.

There’s no doubting that us Gooners will expect nothing less than all three points given the opposition, their problems and the fact we really need to kickstart our season.

Naturally, that is easier said than done given our injury problems; it seems to be a case of when someone returns – in this case Theo Walcott is rumoured to be available – we have to sacrifice another to the treatment room – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the latest casualty with the England international not having trained this week.

The former Southampton man would’ve been the main/only option to fall into central midfield alongside Mathieu Flamini, however, if, as expected, the Ox fails to make the matchday squad you’d imagine we could see a surprise start for recently recalled loanee Francis Coquelin.

With Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby, our main centre mids, ol’ Francis may have to step up to the plate – although, this may actually prove a stroke of genius with Coq a more defensively-minded midfielder meaning Flamini won’t be isolated.
