Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has admitted that the Serie A outfit is ready to sell highly coveted striker Paulo Dybala. But only if he receives and offer of €40 million. Dybala has been sensational this season, scoring 12 goals in 28 league games for the club. His performances have seen him linked with the planet’s best, with a whole host of clubs having reportedly registered interest in the Argentine.
Arsenal is amongst those clubs and are reportedly weighing up a possible move. Zamparini has admitted that he received a bid of €35m for the player, but insists he is holding firm in his asking prize.
“We don’t want players in exchange, only cash,” he said.
“The player is worth €40m, even though there have been offers from foreign teams of €35m. We need to look after Palermo’s budget and accounts.”
It is highly unlikely that Arsenal are the club who made the €35m bid, but Wenger is said to be monitoring the lad. He looks the real deal and is ready to make the big step as far as I’m concerned, but €40m seems a bit steep.
It seems steep because it is steep. An astronomical sum that is for a young and relatively unproven player, and I’m not sure Arsenal will stay in the race if Palermo doesn’t budge. I have a good feeling they will though, as surely they know that not many can or are willing to stump up that kind of cash.
Palermo aren’t close to challenging for a spot in Europe either, so there really isn’t anything else to stop Dybala from leaving the club. What do you think gooners? Could Dybala do a job for Arsenal?
