Ahead of the boxing day clash at the Emirates, one QPR player in particular has been rather vocal about his side’s chances of getting something from the match. Care to take a wild guess? You are correct, who else but Joey Barton? Barton has never been shy to express his views on anything, and yesterday admitted he doesn’t fancy his side getting anything from the match tomorrow.

In typically bizarre and humorous fasihon, Barton also admitted that he, as well his teammates, will find it difficult to cope with Arsenal’s superstar Alexis Sanchez.

Everyone knows we’re c**p away from home. It’d be a different game if we were playing Arsenal here, we’d fancy our chances against anyone.”“I’ve got a book of theories at home of why we’re not getting results away from home – it’s got me baffled and it’s got everyone at the football club baffled. I don’t know what the answer is.”On keeping Sanchez quiet he said:

“I don’t think I’m good enough to be honest.”

“I did say when Alexis Sanchez came I thought he was a little bit inconsistent at Barcelona but I think he’s been great for the league.“We’ve got two Chileans here [Eduardo Vargas and Mauricio Isla] and I constantly ask them about him.“The gripe Arsenal fans have had with the powers that be at the football club is that they haven’t invested in that level of player.

“They’ve done that with Sanchez and for me he’s been a breath of fresh air, he’s great to watch.”

A little Christmas eve comedy for my fellow gooners, and I imagine Rangers fans won’t be too happy with this. Astonishing remarks from Barton even from him. Praising an opponent while disparaging your own team is absolutely unheard of and I would love to see how his teammates feel about his statements.

Boxing day’s clash with QPR is as straightforward as they come regardless, but these statements should fire up the lads even more (assuming they have read this report and care about what Barton thinks). Arsenal have struck fear in the enemy! COYG
