As the saying goes, bad decisions level themselves out across the season. However, it seems that it may not actually be the case.

According to the research done by The Sun, Arsenal would be top of the Premier League on goal difference if not for incorrect decisions made by referees this season.

Refereeing decisions are often subjective, but The Sun – taking into account of dodgy free kicks, decisions not given and offsides, says that the Gunners can feel aggrieved by a number of game-changing incidents.

Here’s how the table would look had everything gone by the book:

1. Arsenal – 30pts (+3)
2. Manchester United – 30pts (+1)
3. Manchester City – 28pts (-2)
4. Tottenham – 25pts (+1)
5. West Ham – 23pts (+3)
6. Crystal Palace – 23pts (+1)
7. Leicester City – 23pts (-5)
8. Southampton – 19pts (+2)
9. Stoke City – 18pts (+3)
10. Everton – 18pts (-1)
11. Watford – 17pts (—)
12. West Brom – 17pts (+1)
13. Liverpool – 16pts (-7)
14. Chelsea – 16pts (—)
15. Bournemouth – 15pts (+3)
16. Swansea City – 14pts (-1)
17. Norwich City – 14pts (-1)
18. Sunderland – 12pts (-1)
19. Aston Villa – 11pts (+1)
20. Newcastle – 11pts (-1)

As you can see, Chelsea are the only side that have had things even out as their points tally would not have changed- whilst Liverpool would be enduring a woeful campaign!

Leicester City’s rise is also questionable, it seems, but the stand-out fact is that Arsenal would be top of the Premier League- level on points with Manchester United.

It’s all ifs and buts, let’s hope we top the real table soon! We won’t throw our toys out of the pram and claim it’s a campaign against us though….
