Turmoil at Napoli could benefit Arsenal in a major way as former target Gonzalo Higuain is said to be unsettled. The Italian outfit has struggled so far this season, losing two out of their first three league matches while also getting ousted from Europe at the hands of Bilbao.  Higuain was said to be unsettled by Napoli’s failings last year and this season’s rough start is believed to have piled on to his misery.

The Argentine may now be considering a move, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea reportedly keeping tabs on the situation and I would fully endorse Arsenal re-entering the hunt for the player. Higuain is a natural goal scorer if I’ve ever seen one, and would instantly make Arsenal significantly better. We have missed a player with Higuain’s clinical and ruthless ability for quite some time now and Wenger simply cannot afford to let the player slip through his grasp again.

An air of mystery still looms over Arsenal’s previous pursuit of the player, with a deal reportedly close before an apparent collapse. It was a strange time for us gooners who were certain we would land the player. Should he become available again, we simply must take advantage.

His arrival would of course complicate things for the strikers we already have and my guess is that Sanogo would be sent on loan (by guess I mean demand) to make room for him. Suddenly, out attacking core would improve drastically and Arsenal would finally possess that goal machine we so desperately need. Giroud and Welbeck would make fantastic options from the bench so we would benefit from a strong rotation.

A move in January looks unlikely so we could be looking at a move for the player in the summer of 2015. Only time will tell if Wenger is interested, and we know better than to get too excited. I won’t hold my breathe, but I would imagine Arsenal would have a good chance of landing the player having come so close previously.
