Olivier Giroud has his fair share of critics but his contribution to Arsenal cannot be denied, with the most telling stat being that he is the Gunners top scorer in all competitions this season.

Better than that, in fact, is that Giroud has scored 9 goals in his past 11 games for club and country. Now, EA Sports have revealed he is statistically amongst the best strikers in the Premier League.

With 17 shots on target and 14 off target, Giroud boasts the same influence in the attacking third as fan favourite Alexis Sanchez- but Giroud has scored 7 Premier League goals to the Chilean’s 6.

Only three players have had more efforts on goal that the Arsenal duo this season, with those being current Premier Leaue top-scorer Jamie Vardy, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Everton’s in-form man Romelu Lukaku.

In terms of effectiveness in front of goal though, Giroud is in the top-three; trailing only Leicester’s Vardy and current Golden Boot holder Sergio Aguero with the lowest minutes-per-goals ratio in the division.

Seven goals in 708 minutes of football means that Giroud finds the net every 101.1 minutes of Premier League football, on average. Furthermore, only he and Vardy can boast appearing in every league game so far this season from the top-five.
