A crucial part of Arsenal’s fantastic form in recent games has been the performances of Mesut Ozil, who is proving to be a match winner for the Gunners.
Previously criticised by rival fans and the media, Ozil is now commanding a lot of attention; taking his season assists tally to six by adding two in Arsenal’s victory over Watford- which extended their winning run in the Premier League to three games.
The in-form 27-year-old also added a goal in the demolition of Manchester United two weeks ago, leading many to declare that there is no finer midfielder in the Premier League at the moment- a claim which is supported by the latest statistics.
Squawka show Arsenal is superior to is counter-parts in numerous areas, coming out triumphant when up against Manchester United’s, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Manchester City’s David Silva- who, like Ozil, has six assists; the most in Europe’s top five leagues.
The above credits Ozil with the most key passes, the joint-most assists and the most chances created; creating an opening every 17.9 minutes, on average.
That’s a pretty phenomenal return, working out at around 5 chances per game. With Arsenal’s forwards now also finding form, the number of assists for Ozil should rise significantly.
no doubt the best in his position right now and I like it when he gets the credit he deserves #LOL
While I think Ozil has been improved, I’m curious about the definition on “chances created” and “key passes”. Defining those are key in providing useful, believable stats.
