Mart Poom joined Arsenal on the last day of the transfer window in August 2005. A veteran of over 200 games in England, Poom is certainly one to add experience in the dressing room.
He missed the majority of last season after undergoing two knee operations but has now returned to full fitness. Poom is one of those keepers who like to keep things organised at the back, and if he can keep fit he may yet prove to be valuable to his new team.
Arsène Wenger had already told fans of his plans to bring in a new player - most expected that it would be a young, up and coming goalkeeper - not an experienced old warhorse like Poom. For many, it was a let-down, considering the personnel losses Arsenal have suffered this summer - and Poom is certainly not a star player.
Poom will simply act as a backup until Janurary 2006 when his loan period expires.
