Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has earmarked forward Alexis Sanchez as the main man in his beloved club’s bid to win the Premier League title in Wenger’s 20th year.

Speaking to the Sky Sports the former Arsenal, Barcelona and Juventus striker, who scored 226 goals in 368 appearances over two spells at the club said:

“You need that guy to be on point for Arsenal to win the league,”

“The way he likes to share the ball, his work ethic, he will give you an assist as well.”

The Chilean, who is now settled in the No.9 role at The Emirates, has enjoyed a flying start to the season having scored four goals in eight Premier League games, picking up another four assists.

The now Belgium international coach, alongside Roberto Martinez, feels that the form of the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi around the 27-year-old are also key to his own form.

“You need guys who are willing to help him and at the moment you have that.

“You need that ‘plus guy’ and Alexis Sanchez – he is that ‘plus guy’.”

The former France international feels that Sanchez is excelling through the middle and, should he stay there in such form, that it could be the start of something special:

“They usually have that [winning] run during the season,” he said.

“But besides the run it’s about how they’re putting pressure now.

“There is something happening, especially with Alex Sanchez playing as a nine.

“Alexis Sanchez does it ever so well for Chile when he plays as a nine and now he does it for Arsenal.”

Henry, Sanchez and the rest of us will be hoping that his form continues across Wednesday’s clash with Ludogorets before Middlesbrough are the visitors to The Emirates.
