Quick question, Roy Hodgson…erm, how do I put this? Well…WHY DID YOU SELECT THEO WALCOTT FOR ENGLAND IF YOU HAD NO INTENTION OF USING HIM?!

*And breathe*

Sorry about that, it just baffled me that Walcott, a player who was out injured for almost a year, who hasn’t played too often for his club side since his return was, not only selected for international, but then not even utilised.

If Hodgson wasn’t planning on given the former Southampton forward some much needed minutes in a pointless friendly against Scotland, then why hinder his rehabilitation? Allow Walcott to continue his return to full fitness at London Colney.

Anyway, the former Liverpool gaffer’s pointless inclusion of Theo in the Three Lions squad isn’t the reason I’m here; I’m here because when Arsenal’s starting line-up runs out of the Emirates tunnel a few minutes before kick-off against Manchester United on Saturday, I hope to see Walcott in amongst those eleven players.

Theo has only played 21 minutes of Premier League football since his return – 10 against Burnley and 11 in the defeat to Swansea City – which may not sound a lot, but you’ve also got to remember that he now has a few weeks of training under his belt; he will no doubt be raring to go.

With Manchester United’s defensive worries making Arsenal’s look like nothing to lose sleep over, Theo’s pace, direct style of play and clinical finishing will be a huge positive to have on the field from the get-go. Walcott may not be able to last 90 minutes, however, having the striker’s explosiveness for 60 minutes or so, I believe, will be more than enough to see off Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.

It is time for the Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott double-act to start!

Arsene Wenger confirmed Theo Walcott was injured earlier today. You’ve wasted your Friday evening.
