Yesterday’s result still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Once again Arsenal failed to perform in a big match, only this time, they nearly did enough to salvage a smash and grab victory. And once again, Arsenal concede from a set piece late in the match. It continues to be the side’s achilles heel and we will continue to drop points because of it if it is not addressed. Arsenal fans weren’t really too vocal on tiwtter given the minimal positives there were to talk about, and everybody’s fixation was on Skrtel’s late heroics for the Reds. Bitterly disappointing for us gooners. Let’s take a look as some of the best the twittersphere had to offer.

@TakalaniLufhugu

“Wasn’t Martin Skrtel’s goal the first set-piece we’ve scored in the EPL this season?”

@lexifc

“The fact that Skrtel got a header with his injured head just amazes me. This is football. THIS IS FOOTBALL”

@lfc_squad

“We love bloody Skrtel”

I see what you did there…

@mainneli_

“But I believe football has no manners. Skrtel injury made the game get all that extra time and then he scored during that time.”

@capitalfm_kenya

“Rodgers spurred by wounded #Skrtel rescue #LFC ”

@ejaz_k

“Suffers head injury. Scores with Head… in injury time. Martin Skrtel”

@declloyd

“I think Skrtel should wear a bandage every game.”

You would expect this kind of reaction from twitter. Humor, amusement as well as bemusement, shock, and just sheer entertainment all rolled into one. I’m sure a neutral will have enjoyed every moment of the match let alone the dramatic last minute goal, while we gooner wallow in self pity. Not too much though, as we need to shift focus on to boxing day’s clash wit QPR.
