Theo Walcott says having Robin van Persie firing again for Arsenal is a huge boost for the team’s title chances.

The two players combined brilliantly in the team’s stylish 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday, with Walcott setting up van Persie for the first goal, and the Dutchman returning the favour for the second.

The 21-year-old says he loves playing with van Persie, and generally feels Arsenal are looking strong upfront, with a variety of options in attacking areas.

He said: “We’ve got different options as well. Everyone is different and that’s the great thing with this Arsenal team.

“Robin van Persie is so important to us. It’s great to have his presence up front. I love playing with him. It’s a great asset for us, he’s scoring goals, back fully fit and is on a nice run because he’s fully fit again.

“We have so much strength on the bench as well. We had Arshavin, Bendtner and Chamakh [at West Ham] and we’ve got a great squad. We’ve got to stay fit because it’s going to be busy, busy until the end of the season.

“But if it’s not going well for you then there’s someone on the bench who can come in. That’s the whole point of using the squad.

“The likes of Tottenham have got a very good forward line as well. But, playing for this team, I believe we’ve got the strongest.”
