Arsenal’s outstanding victory over Manchester United at the Emirates has blown the table wide open again and given the Gunners a much needed confidence boost.

Jonathan Kaney tells us why Arsenal are genuine title contenders- and that the title race is wide open.

After a disappointing result against Olympiacos in the Champions League, we were under severe pressure to perform against a strong United side who, after spending close to £250m since Louis Van Gaal took over, were sitting pretty at top of the table.

It could have been a banana skin that added more fuel to the fire for critics with a bad result. However, the team came out guns blazing and proved their critics wrong with an aggressive and passionate performance, scoring 3 outstanding early goals and putting the game to bed before half-time.

It was a fantastic reaction by the players for the club, the fans and the manager after their passion and desire were questioned midweek. Goal scorers Alexis Sanchez and Mezut Ozil, and tireless worker Theo Walcott, in particular were out of this world and showed the Premier League how beautiful attacking football is played.

After eight games of the season the Gunners now lie in second place, level on points with United and two behind City. With Chelsea off the pace lying just outside the relegation zone, it’s unlikely they will be in the title equation unless they pull off a miracle.

It looks like it will be the Gunners battling it out with United and City, and with a psychological edge over both after recent results, as long as we can carry on steady form in the league we can push them both for the title this season.

With Chelsea so poor, City up and down and United average, this could be the season that Arsenal win back the trophy they deserve.

united is a strong side than arsenal but because van gaal does not understand his team well,it has costed united so much even if united spend one billion in january transfer window still there will be no change even if it means buying ronaldo, suarez and messi. what van gaal has in the team is enough but van gaal does not know the right players for the right match .sir ALEX succeeded just because he knew the right players to use like when playing arsenal he knew the players to use and loosing to arsenal and swansea was a taboo unlike van gaal who even does not know his team abilities!.
