Speaking to Telefoot, Arsene Wenger has offered his reflection on the now infamous Mourinho touchline incident, apologising for his behavior and admitting he regrets his actions. He however maintained that he was provoked by Mourinho, after the Chelsea boss appeared to impede Wenger as he attempted to reach Alexis Sanchez.

We gooners appreciated his passion and probably saw the humorous side of the spat, but Wenger is admittedly lucky to not have been punished by the F.A.

While he was tight lipped in the direct aftermath of the spat, he recently had this to say regarding the altercation:

“I regret every sign of violence and I apologise, but that’s a part of games where everything is manic.”

“It’s not a way to behave on a football field and I shouldn’t have reacted like that.”

He then alluded to the tense history between the two managers, and insisted it was Mourinho who provoked the spat.

“We have quite a substantial past. Did Mourinho provoke me? That is how I felt.”

“But I did not enter his technical area.”

Fun and jokes aside, Wenger not being penalized means he will be on the touchline for the clash with Hull this weekend. I spoke before about how massive a month October will be for Arsenal, and it begins Saturday.
