Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in a move for AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang, should star forward Alexis Sanchez leave the club, according to reports from The Sun.

The Chilean’s future is still up in the air at The Emirates, with just 18 months left on his contract there is no sign of the former Barcelona man putting pen to paper on a new deal just yet.

With that in mind, the Gunners boss is right to be planning ahead and seeking out potential replacements.

However, he may face a battle from Premier League rivals West Ham, who are also reportedly interested in a deal for 22-year-old Niang.

The versatile forward has made 17 appearances for the Serie A side this season, scoring on three occasions and assisting a further three.

Whilst there is no inclination that the Gunners are closing in on a new deal for their star man, the reports that manager Arsene Wenger is set for an extension could go a long way to ensuring that the Chile international stays.
