Arsene Wenger said he is confident of completing a last minute deal or two, and said he is on watch 24/7 for any possible deals. With the window set to close next Tuesday, and Petr Cech the only arrival so far, Wenger said that although he isn’t currently after anyone, he is eyeing a last minute deal.

The likes of Per Mertesacker, Danny Welbeck, Mikel Arteta, and Andrey Arshavin among others have all joined Arsenal in the dying moments of windows past, and Wenger says there is always a chance of similar situations.

“At the moment, I cannot say I am very confident because we are not close to signing anybody,” he said in a Sky Sports report.

“I don’t know because I am always confident that a last-minute situation or solution is available, because the transfer market is especially moving in the last four or five days.”

“At the moment, I cannot promise you that. We work very hard… you know I have a team around me who work day and night to find good solutions.”

“But at the moment, we are not close to signing anyone. I am 24 hours available per day, so I am involved in the decision of course.”

The slightest glimmer of hope it may be for gooners who are a chomping at the bit for a new face at the Emirates. Things move fast in football, and I would go out on a limb and say there is indeed the possibility for Wenger to still complete some business.

He has to be decisive though, and move quickly, so let’s hope we see a new man unveiled at the Emirates.

Well Wenger we’ve reached that time. Start looking for a player who is really good that nobody else wants. If not start plotting for the purchase of a great player in January.

No offense but the idea sounds stupid and I believe Asene will have to see a psychologist because he is taking all this the wrong way depending on fifty fifty chance of having one or two players will be available at the dying minutes while a lot of world class were available earlier and he never took anyone seriously and now we wait and hope that one or two will be available at last minute wheather or not the player is what we need like most people are now asking where welbeck is going to fit in even as great as a striker wenger said he is because he was the only available striker at the dying minute…
