Arsene Wenger has denied claims he ruled out a move for Mattieu Debuchy to Manchester United.

In an interview earlier this week the Arsenal outcast claimed he and Wenger no longer speak as the Frenchman is still aggrieved a move to United was prevented.

Despite he France international misssing much of this campaign with thigh and hamstring injuries, Debuchy has been surplus at Arsenal since being displaced by Hector Bellerin last season.

Arsene Wenger on Friday refuted claims he and the defender have fallen out over the potential switch to Manchester.

“We speak,” Wenger said ahead of the Crystal Palace clash.

“There is communication with all the players. It’s a little bit of a frustrated article from a player who is injured.

“When you are injured you cannot play. I gave him the opportunity to go to Bordeaux on loan last year but nobody came in for him over the summer – not Fiorentina or Espanyol. Some things in the article are not true.”

“Manchester United didn’t make an offer for him. That is untrue. It is surprising to hear something like that.”

Debuchy, who has endured difficult times in North London, is likely to depart The Emirates for good in January.
