Who?

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, former Arsenal U-18 captain. He is a product of the academy and climbed through the ranks to skipper the youth side that won the league and cup double in 08-09. Jack Wilshere was also a member of that side which was coached by current number two Steve Bould.

Remember now?

He was given the fond nickname “jet” for the abbreviation of his name and was not a bad player in any estimation. He didn’t get much first team action, but did manage to make an appearance against Chelsea in October of 09. Most of his buzz came from sensational performances for the youth and reserve side, the most memorable of which came against Everton when he did this…

It was his second of the game, and tenth in six appearances

Arsenal reject!, Arsenal reject!

He joined the first team in 2008 but never really could break in. Lauded for his physical traits and quick feet, many tipped him to succeed including Wenger who said “when his fitness is right, Jay will be not only a good player but a great player”. He was sent on loan three times to Blackpool, Doncaster, and Cardiff but it wasn’t to be in term of an Arsenal chance. From there he joined Ipswich in 2011 where he made 70 appearances for the club scoring 8 goals. In 2013 he joined his current club Bristol City and has made over 50 appearances so far. Still only 23, jet has time to have a great career.

One response to “Whatever happened to Arsenal’s former captain?”

  1. Dudu says:

You could have gone on to talk about his goals for Bristol City and how he is doing there. That’s where he is now.
