Who?

Andre Santos, Arsenal signed him from Fenerbahce in 2011. He was one of four deadline day signings that year alongside Arteta, Mertesacker, and Park Chu-Young.

Remember now?

Santos was shocking at defending and much preferred getting up the pitch in attack. He managed to score a few goals like the equalizer against Chelsea when Arsenal went on to win 5-3. Unfortunately for him though, gooners will remember him the most for his now infamous shirt swap with a certain Dutch former Arsenal captain who shall remain unnamed. Arsenal were playing Man United, and it was halftime after a dismal first 45 minutes. Instead of seeing our lads trot back into the locker room, what do we see? Santos warmly embracing the enemy and swapping shirts! Unforgivable.

Arsenal reject!, Arsenal reject!

After two uneventful seasons, Santos was sent on loan back to home country Brazil with Gremio. From there he signed for Flamengo where he played two seasons. He was attacked and hospitalized by a Flamengo fan following a poor performance on July 20th of this year after Flamengo lost 4-0 to Internacional. In August, he reached an agreement with the club to become a free agent, and in September he signed for current club Goa in the Indian Super League.

Santos is now 31 and I don’t see any more big clubs swooping for the player any time soon.

One response to “Whatever happened to the man who offended the Arsenal fans?”

  1. Jack Gunner says:

If it were not for the 8-2 rout,do you think Wenger would have bought the players on deadline day? This manager is too focussed on attack. As a result he doesn’t get a pure defender. By that I mean this guy must be able to attack as well.
You will what I mean you see 4-4 Vs Nu and the big losses to the top 3 last season and still the fm hasn’t learned his lesson though in the NU game the whole team came back to defend.
Btw,Pool were caught on the counter by Mu .Add to the fact the Mata was not ruled offside.
That is why these mo cannot be trusted to make the right decision.
