Cruzeiro hotshot Lucas Silva has caught the eye of Arsene Wenger lately, according to the London Evening Standard. Silva has been tracked by Real Madrid since the season started, with the young Brazilian tipped to be a future Galactico. The Standard maintains that Arsenal are now ready to pip Madrid to the signing of the player and have tabled an offer just under £12m to land the player.

According to spanish paper Marca, Cruzeiro have accepted Arsenal’s bid and are awaiting Real’s improved offer. Madrid reportedly offered £9.5m for the player which his club has deemed unsatisfactory. The 21 is said to have his heart set on a move to Madrid, but with the Spanish giants having yet to agree a fee, Arsenal may be in pole position to land the player.

Silva is a defensive midfielder who has come under the radar of the national team. He has yet to feature for the senior team but is tipped to break into the side sooner rather than later. He was a big part of Cruziero’s title winning season last year and was named in the league’s XI of the year.

Silva fits the ball for the type of player Arsenal are looking for in the centre of the park. Tall, quick, strong, and intelligent, Silva is very much in the Sergio Busquets mold. Would represent a fantastic bit of business for Arsenal.
