According to reports in the Metro, Arsenal are keen on Monaco’s Yannick Ferreira Carrasco. He is the player who of course scored Monaco’s third goal in Arsenal’s 1st leg capitulation, and the 21 year old has seemingly impressed Wenger in doing so.

Reports suggest that Wenger was already monitoring the player, but has now stepped up his scouting and has “ordered” Arsenal’s executives to make the deal happen. Arsenal could possibly be preparing for life without Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski (if other reports are to be believed), and Carrasco is seen as a worthy replacement.

The Belgian has scored 6 goals and contributed 10 assists in 41 games this season and can operate anywhere along the front three. He is lightning quick (as Arsenal found out) and fairly skillful as well, a real handful for opposing fullbacks.

He came up through the youth ranks at Monaco, breaking into the first team in 2012. He was a massive part of the club’s successful efforts to win promotion and remains a key figure in their Ligue 1 title challenge. The club sits just 6 points off of leaders PSG with a game in hand.

Monaco will most likely be reluctant to part ways with one of their standout performers, especially one so young and with much potential, so Arsenal may have to stump up the cash if they are to make this deal happen.

Carrasco is climbing the football latter, and could be set to make his international debut in the next coming days. He is the squad that will play Cyprus in just a few moments as well as Israel next week. What do you think gooners? Do you want to see Carraso in the mighty red and white?
