For the third time in as many summers, Santi Cazorla has been linked with a move back to Spain with Atletico Madrid. The former Villarreal and Malaga man has been in splendid form since joining Arsenal, drawing many admirers across Europe.

Perhaps none more so than Diego Simeone, who has tracked Cazorla for the past few seasons now. According to reports in the Daily Mail, Atletico are said to be stepping up their efforts to bring in Santi this time around, with the departure of Arda Turan imminent.

The report alleges that Atletico will mostly fail again in their pursuit however, with Arsenal only willing to part ways for a “astronomical bid.” Gooners will be happy to hear this news, and for me Arsenal is taking the right approach.

Not only is Santi one of our best players, we are in a financially sound position where we do not need to sell anyone.

Santi has been absolutely brilliant for the past few seasons, one of our standout performers in midfield. He has been among the top three in assists for each season since he arrived and is integral to the side. Many forget that he was the man pulling the strings before Ozil and Sanchez arrived and arguably still does even from his deeper role.

Which brings me to the next point, Santi’s versatility. He showed last season how versatile a player he is, adapting superbly to his deeper lying holding role in midfield. His technical ability is second to no one, and I mean no one in world football. He is as two footed as anyone you can name, and his vision and passing range is top drawer.

Not to mention his stamina and durability, as he appeared in more games than any other Arsenal player last season. Santi goes nowhere, end of discussion.

Santi goes nowhere? Don’t bet on it. Wenger still knows when to fling a player, mark you!

If and only if Atletico Madrid. are desperate to sign Santi Cazorla and he is interested in going back to Spain , it is clear that Atletico Madrid are losing Arda Turan. Arda Turan is an outstanding player who is planning to join Chelsea , and Arsenal are not that fool to lose one of our best players to strengthen Chelsea team and squad . So if we are to lose one of our best players it should simple swap . As Arda Turan is 28 years old and Santi Cazorla is 30 we will not be much on the losing side .It should be made clear to them this is the only option , otherwise they will never ever get Santi Cazorla .
