Arsenal travel to Newcastle tomorrow looking to get back to winning ways after a stuttering start to the season. Four points from three games is not what Wenger and co had in mind, and a win at St James’ Park could be the start of some much needed momentum.

Arsenal usually enjoy their travels to Newcastle, having won their last three matches at St James’ Park. In fact, Arsenal have won the last seven meetings with Newcastle home and away, and are unbeaten in last nine. You have to look as far back as November 2010 for the last loss time Arsenal loss to the Magpies.

Olivier Giroud is a man who loves to play against Newcastle as well, having scored six goals in his last four matches against them, and there is good shout for all of these trends to continue. Everything points toward an Arsenal victory, but the match of course is not won on paper.

The biggest reason Arsenal should and most likely will defeat the Magpies is because Arsenal need a win to keep up pace at the top. As it stands, the club sits five points off of City at the top. It is early going still, and five points is not an insurmountable deficit, but is a sizable enough gap to be wary of.

Arsenal have improved since the opening day shocker, performing well against Palace and managing to keep Liverpool at bay despite a depleted back line. Wenger’s men have still yet to hit top gear, but signs of improvement are there.

Tomorrow’s match is a must win, and I’m backing the lads to deliver.
