For some bizarre reason, the fact Arsenal have so many options in the attacking third of the field, is seen as a way to criticise and lambast Arsene Wenger and the squad he has built/is building.

Rather than marvelling at a side that possesses the ability to field Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla – irrelevant of if you think they can all play together – is surely a thing to admire, no?

The fact the critics decide to focus on the point that Lukas Podolski wants out in January and someone like Joel Campbell, a star at the World Cup, has only played 16 minutes of Premier League football, baffles me.

As a fan, I love that we have an exciting option in Campbell on the bench, the fact that we can turn to a clinical marksman such as Podolski when we are in desperate need of goal, is something that should, and no doubt does, excite our fans.

The reason I’m here, though, is because for once, football needs take a long-term view. In amongst our wealth of attacking midfield options, we have a 34-year-old Tomas Rosicky, an injury-prone duo in Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey and, if the rumours are true, a wantaway Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil.

So, it isn’t too far of a possibility that the aforementioned five won’t be available for one reason or another. Therefore, if youngsters like Joel Campbell and Serge Gnabry are patient – as in next summer – there’s every possibility they will become key parts of the Arsenal squad.

Show me a manager/fan/pundit/columnist, anyone, who wouldn’t want those options and I’ll show you someone with a pre-conceived agenda.

It’s a long season, Arsenal could easily play close to 60 games this season and there’s no doubt that everyone will play their part.

well put david,i have highlighted the prlmeobs i feel are wrong with the cuurent side1. Goalie. Almunia. Great shot stopper but no good with crosses and regularly is out of position against long shots. the majority of the goals against us have come from crosses or shots from outside the box, the defence has been questioned for lacking heading abilities and the midfield has been critisised for not closing down, but almunia has to be held accountable also. hes not even an international, every top side has a top international keeper, we need one.2. Central defence. We lack pace and power and authority at the back, we need a giant speedy defender.3.wingers. we have none. players are being asked to play out of position. how can we expect to get the best out of nasri and walcott when they are playing out of position.4. DM’s. we have none. same problem with denilson, how can we get the best out of him and the rest of the midfield when there are no specialist players filling the roles. since last season weve lost three DMs in diarra, gilberto and flamini, and they havent been replaced. we cant expect the players we have now to defend as a team when its not in their natural game to defend individually.walcott is a striker nasri, cesc diaby and denilson are central attack minded midfielders. the midfield has no shape or balance.last year we had hleb, who could dribble, flamini, who could run all day and tackle, rosicky who could create space and cesc who could pass. perfect balance.this year we have too many players there who dont no what their doing and individual bits of brilliance doesnt bring you consistency.5.lethal, deadly 1 shot one goal finisher. we have two. eduardo who has been out for a year and vela who wenger wont play. until eduardo comes back we will continue to fluff chances.we have a lot of talented individuals, but as a team they dont work. wenger has to go out and get at least 5 players before we can consider winning the title again. until then its fourth at best.

At last, someone with the balls to really analyse ! , thks
So many blogs are defendant for revenue by printing rubbish. Regrettably so many fans are daft enough to read them and BELIEVE the rubbish being printed
As the first respondent, that kind of proves my point
If you had written that Wenger is a pratt you would have had many, many respondents
Injuries aside, we have the potential to really go places.
Wenger is blamed for not signing D.M. and new centre back, no centre back worth the signing is going to sit on his arse on the bench and the D.M. we want would`t sign for various reasons
    There I go being rational

    Thanks again

Those options are only worth anything if you actually use them and use them in a way that makes sense. Having Sanogo start matches while Campbell (who proved he could play solo striker in the world cup) is just a small example of why having these options means nothing because we don’t use them in an intelligent way.

Campbell deserves more time. The only reason it’s so annoying is because Wenger is playing midfielders out wide while we have so many great wingers in the squad. I think Poldi’s time is definitely up and maybe Campbell as well because they both want to play. And if they didn’t get to play at the start of the season it will only be harder now when Theo and Gnabry are back..
