Reports linking Arsenal with a move for Barca winger Pedro have picked up steam yet again, with Arsenal reportedly making contact over the player’s availability. The Spaniard was linked with a move to the Emirates in January, after growing disgruntled with life behind Messi and Neymar in the pecking order.

He had to settle for a bit part role off the bench and is said to be looking for a move away from Barcelona. Pedro is a brilliant player, but he isn’t the man to take Arsenal to the next level. For me, a winger is the last of Arsenal’s concerns at the moment.

Pedro would find it just as difficult to get first team minutes at Arsenal behind the likes of Sanchez, Chamberlain, Walcott, and Welbeck.

In fact, he may find it even more difficult to get minutes considering the number of players in his position. Pedro is the first man off the bench in most cases at Barcelona, while at Arsenal he would have to compete with two or three on the bench.

As far as attributes go, he doesn’t really add anything that Arsenal doesn’t already possess. He is comparable to Sanchez, Walcott, and Chamberlain with his pace and trickery, and is about even  when it comes to end product with those three as well. He is not an improvement to the options already available so why spend the money?

Wenger should be after a proven goal scoring machine. A dominating centre forward who knows how to tuck the ball into the net, not another winger to add to the half dozen already available. Take nothing away from Pedro, he is a top talent, but we have more than enough in his position.

One response to “Why there is no place for this Barca man at Arsenal”

You do not play our your players in one and the same game. You do not play one player all the matches of the season. He is a world class player and is available for a reasonable money . He proved on the top level that he is better than some of our existing players who failed to win the championship for eleven years and the champion league foe 17 years. It is time to inject new blood and strengthen the squad and the team . It is not a question of how many players we have .It is a question of quality .
