Young Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom has done it again for Hull City. After scoring on his debut against Huddersfield at the weekend, and a peach of a goal at that, he netted an equally as impressive goal in his second appearance yesterday in Hull’s win over Accrington Stanley in the Capital One Cup.

That’s two in two now for Akpom, with the lad seemingly really enjoying his football at the moment. He was prolific in the youth ranks at Arsenal, and took his first team chance with aplomb when he bagged a hat trick during Arsenal’s preseason tour to Singapore.

He has yet to score a goal for the first team though, and after fairly uneventful previous loan spells, the 19 year old seems to have finally gotten over the hump. I said before I expect a big campaign from Chuba, as I think he can score the goals to fire Hull City back into the Premier League.

In this kind of form he is well on his way to doing just that. Watch his strike down below.

He will be a star in the future for Arsenal, that I’m sure of. He has the physical traits to compete in the Premier League, and his finishing ability was never in doubt. He needed this loan opportunity to gain the experience of coping with the pressure and being relied upon to deliver the goods.

He is showing he can do just that, and is undaunted by the big stage. Chuba played the super sub role today, coming on for Nikica Jelavic at the hour mark and taking just 32 minutes to find the net. He scored the game’s first goal early into extra time to give Hull the lead, but a quick flurry of goals from both sides sent the match into penalties.

Chuba scored his spot kick as well, cooly dispatching his penalty into the bottom right corner as Hull eventually won 4-3 so job well done for Chuba. How’s that for coping with pressure? This lad is the real deal, and is showing Wenger he will be a player he can rely on down the line. Chuba could end up pulling a Coquelin and returning to Arsenal prematurely in this kind of form.

What a story that would be.

Did Hayden feature? I’d like to see our youngsters eventually get places in our squad when players like Mertesacker, Arteta, Rosicky, Giroud etc are taken out of the team eventually. I’d prefer Akpom over Giroud already..

Hayden didn’t feature yesterday against Accrington Stanley, but started and played 90 minutes in Hull’s first match against Huddersfield. He did well, he should make a run for a place in Arsenal’s first team eventually
