It is almost taken nowadays in our footy lexicon that Germans are the best in the trade to harness the footballing talents in their Jugend.

The same harbinger has seen the emergence of the next-gen shield to Germany’s back four, Christoph Kramer. You may remember him for his early substitution in last year’s WC Final due to concussion. But the fact is, in a year he has transformed his game to new heights with his loaned club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

He has been on loan with the Mönchengladbach for the last couple of seasons. It looked like he was set for a long stay there after his loan term ended but he has decided to return to Leverkusen and extend his contract to 2019.

He will have to fight it out of his skins to win the defensive midfield spot from the Leverkusen star Lars Bender. Just why he would be well-advised to look for greener pastures….and yes, our very own the Arsenal.

The 6ft 2 midfielder has played 38 matches this season (six appearances coming from the bench) for Mönchengladbach. His top-notch performances throughout this season have been crucial for clinching the third and final automatic UCL qualifying spot for his side.

Whenever we consider any DMF for the Arsenal, we look into some specific parameters to analyse how the player would fit in. One of the most important scales is AERIAL prowess or how many headed duels has the player won.

The tale goes that Kramer, when in Leverkusen’s youth team, was shown the door at the age of 15 due to his short height. But later in his career he grew to be a giant at 6ft 2. Kramer has won 47% of his headed duels this season and will have to improve this area if he is to succeed in the Premier League.

One of the best facets of his game is his passing, with an accuracy at 87%. Kramer has dominated the midfield this season for Gladbach, winning 67% of his duels while covering the pitch via his astute positioning sense.

OUR VERDICT:

If Schneiderlin comes, Coquelin goes to bench – not a healthy proposition for Arsenal’s star performer last season. But if Kramer does, Coquelin will start and will receive some healthy pressure for the role from Kramer.

It would be good for both players and Arsene Wenger in particular.

I think Coquelin is good enough to compete any Midfield brought Arsenal at this time. The Youngman is number one in that position at this time so anybody coming to challenge is up to the challenge and I have confidence this season that he is going to help Arsenal to the EPL title. Arsenal just need consistence from the who team and they will be just fine to compete with the best. I will prefer Vidal over most names trying to come to Arsenal, his work rate is just like that of Sanchez, this is what you need in a team and this is what Coquelin brought into the second half of last year EPL.

I agree with you, Vidal has won titles with Juventus, if he comes and is added to Petr Cech then we will have a team full of winners. That winning mentality and feeling is what was missing for such a long time at Arsenal. I have this feeling that Arsenal will now contest the PL.
