Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is confident his side can end the club’s 11-year wait for a Premier League title this season.

The World Cup winner was speaking to German publicationĀ BildĀ and also backed the Gunners to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Arsenal enter the international break second in the table, two points behind Manchester City, but need a major recovery in Europe as they’ve lost their opening two group stage fixtures.

Despite the odds being stacked against Arsenal, who now face back-to-back matches against Bayern Munich, Ozil is confident the Gunners can achieve success on all fronts.

“We have a great team with a lot of world-class players,”

“Our goal is to win the Premier League title. I think we can achieve it this season if we do not get any major injuries. But the season is still long.”

“It is true that there is a lot of pressure on us in the Champions League. We can beat Bayern, though, if we play at the same level as against Manchester United,”

“I was a bit surprised to see Bayern beat Dortmund 5-1. Bayern’s results show that they are in great form.”

“We have a lot of respect for Bayern, but we are not afraid of them. We are playing at home and we know how to score goals and be successful against Bayern.”

“Of course, it will not be easy, but we have the potential to beat any team.”

Ozil is currently away on international duty with Germany, where the World Cup champions will seal their spot at next summer’s European Championships if they avoid defeat to the Republic Of Ireland, before closing the qualifying campaign against Georgia.

I’m confident we can create many chances against Bayern at home. I remember us flying out of the gates against them at home a couple season ago. We had them cornered. But then Szczesny got a red card. And all that was with Sanogo up front for example. We’ve definitely improved where I don’t think they really have.
