3 La Liga bargain buys Arsenal must snap up in January

La Liga seems to be the first place Premier League teams scout in the present day, with many talented youngsters rising out of Spanish academies and joining their first teams.

English scouts find many bargain’s in Spain and will for sure be looking this January transfer window to see if there is anymore they like the look of.

The January transfer window is the perfect occasion for teams to recruit players after watching the first half of the season unfold, the managers and coaching staff can identify what positions need improving and look for a player to fill that void. Or, more likely in Arsenal’s case, injuries result in the squad being very thin and down to the bare minimum, resulting in players playing in different positions to what they would usually play.

La Liga is full of quality teams with large squads, and Arsenal will be looking to take full advantage of the players who are not satisfied with their game-time and try to snap them up this month.

Here are THREE bargains Arsenal could land this January transfer window…

Asier Illarramendi

After a disappointing time at Real Madrid between 2013-2015, there is no doubt that the defensive midfielder’s value would have decreased, with very little attention on him this January window. The midfielder now plays his football at Real Sociedad, but would surely be tempted for a switch to the Premier League if Arsenal made an offer.

The Gunners are very thin in the centre-midfield position at present, with huge injuries affecting their midfield selection, Illarramendi could be a cheap addition this month to fill the midfield until Arsenal’s centre-midfielders are fit to play again.

Iago Aspas

Again, the Spaniard’s biggest career move to Liverpool in 2013 was a complete disaster, resulting in his transfer value inevitably decreasing. However, since his return to Spain with Celta Vigo, Aspas has been in the form of his career, scoring twenty-five league goals in just fifty-one games.

The small Spaniard could play a huge part to Arsenal’s title charge if he could replicate the form he is producing for Celta Vigo at The Emirates.

A risky signing, but for a small price, it may well be worth the risk.

Bakary Kone

Since the defender’s arrival at Malaga last summer, the Burkino Faso international has only made five league appearances, a lot less game-time than he can be satisfied with.

Kone is a strong, brave and composed defender who would fit into Arsenal’s system extremely well, and would possibly be a cheap fee due to his lack of minutes at the club.

Kone is now twenty-eight years old, and is at the stage of his career where he will want to play as much football as possible, which he is not receiving at Malaga. An offer from Arsenal would undoubtedly tempt the African to joining the Emirates.
