3 standout performers from the weekend who Wenger must sign this month

Last weekend saw many spectacular performances in the Premier League which, with the January transfer deadline closing in, will have made scouts up and down the country sit up and take notice.

From braces, to Man of the Match performances, players have put their value in the transfer market this month higher than it may have been just a week or two ago.

Arsenal are a team who are struggling with filling a first-team bench as of late, with injuries to key players in the squad resulting in Arsene Wenger using his youth side to fill the last spots on the bench.

It’s clear Arsene Wenger needs to bring in a couple of new faces this month and, with the January market being a dangerous and expensive one, it is best to buy proven Premier League talent.

James Ward-Prowse

A talented English youngster who currently plays his football at Southampton. Ward-Prowse was on the top of his game this weekend, when the Saints banished champions Leicester in a 3-0 win.

The young playmaker opened the scoring for his side with a fine strike in the first half, demonstrating what talent he has in his locker. Ward-Prowse was awarded with the Man of the Match award for his breathtaking display on Sunday.

Many Southampton youngsters in recent years have been taken away from St. Mary’s, whilst Ward-Prowse has remained untouched. It is a confusing situation as to why, with the youngster having so much potential and current ability. He could be a brilliant signing for Arsene Wenger.

Michail Antonio

The West Ham midfielder has undoubtedly been the Hammers best player this season with eight goals in the Premier League this season, being their top goal scorer.

The powerful winger has consistently performed for Billic’s side with every victory his team secure, he is involved in a large way.

The Englishman has been very versatile this season, from playing at full-back to striker, he is definitely a key player to have around the squad. Antonio was even rewarded with an England call-up at the end of 2016.

Fernando Llorente

The Spanish targetman was on the top of his game at Anfield in the early kick-off on the weekend, netting a brace in a 3-2 away win for his side. Llorente was rewarded with the Man of the Match award as a result of his performance, being the main outlet for his side and clinical finishing.

Llorente could be a cheap option for Arsene Wenger this January transfer window to add extra depth to his squad as it very thin with the amount of injuries at the Emirates as of late.

The former Spanish international have proven he can handle the Premier League with his performances at the Liberty stadium, and would be a fine bargain.
