3 strikers who could realistically join Arsenal before the end of January

Arsene Wenger had wanted Boadu at the Emirates

Arsenal are a team who are extremely thin in depth of strikers, with just French targetman, Oliver Giroud, being the Gooners only recongised striker in the squad. The French international has been in fine form for Arsenal of late, scoring five goals in his last five starts since making his way back into the side.

Danny Welbeck, who has finally returned after a long-term injury can do a job in the striker role, but it is not his preferred position – he is definitely more comfortable on the left-wing, where his pace and power is vital to the postilion.

Arsenal’s star player this season, Alexis Sanchez, has played the majority of matches in the centre-forward role, keeping Giroud out of the side. The Chilean gave the Gooners a different outlet to what the Frenchman offers, but again, the Chilean international prefers to come off the left-wing.

With such limited options in the striker role, Arsene Wenger will be looking for a striker this January transfer window.

Here’s THREE strikers Arsenal could sign before the end of January.. Do you agree? Who do you think Arsenal could sign this transfer window?

Daniel Sturridge

The Liverpool and England international could well join up with fellow English teammates Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the Emirates this January with the pacey striker not getting the game-time he would expect to play at this point in his career.

Sturridge who has a stunning goal scoring record for the Reds, has been out of favour with his latest boss, Jurgen Klopp, with many of his teammates ahead of him in the pecking order, including Robert Firmino, who is not even a recongised striker.

Whether it be on loan, or a permanent transfer, Sturridge would be a fine addition to Arsene Wenger’s squad, and could strike Arsenal to the title this season.

Michy Batshuayi

After signing for Chelsea in the summer for a large fee around the figure of £30 million, the Belgian international has struggled to make his way into the side with the new Chelsea manager not needing his services due to an in-form Diego Costa this season.

The youngster will be itching to prove his worth to his new boss, and maybe a loan deal to a Premier League club such as Arsenal would be the perfect way to demonstrate his talent.

Batshuayi would bring a different element to Arsenal’s game, with pace and agility in the striker role, something that their targetman does not offer.

Alvaro Morata

The Real Madrid forward will be frustrated that he cannot get game-time at the Spanish giants, after an impressive loan spell at Juventus last season. The young Spanish international will want to play football and a move away from Spain may be the only option for him.

It looks certain that Morata will be sold in the upcoming summer, so Arsene Wenger should make an approach for the Spaniards services this January, before a bidding war with other clubs in the summer. Morata has been not been able to prove himself to boss Zinedine Zidane, with Karim Benzema playing brilliantly for the team.
