Former Arsenal star Marc Overmars believes Alexis Sanchez could return to the club.

Chile international Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal in January 2018, has endured a poor season at Old Trafford, contributing just two goals.

In all, the 30-year-old has scored just five goals in 37 matches for United and has also struggled with injuries.

It was a different story during his stint at the Emirates. Sanchez fired in 60 goals in 122 league games under Arsene Wenger’s stewardship.

And Ajax director of football Overmars feels the Chilean may be regretting the switch to Old Trafford.

“I have great respect for Alexis, because he did extremely well in Arsenal, but I do not know if it was a good decision to leave,” he told Chile Radio Station, ADN Deportes.

Once upon a time Alexis Sanchez was Arsenal’s talisman

“English football changes you, it turns you around, and it took me a step forward. Arsene Wenger arrived a year before me, Dennis Bergkamp made a big impression England. It was a fantastic time, I think we changed the history of the club a bit.

“These type of players were very important for Arsenal, because that’s where they take you to focus, after Alexis, Arsenal tried to sign another player like that, but he was not given, so he could go back to Arsenal.”

Gooners, would you be open to the idea of Sanchez returning to the Emirates? Let us know in the comments…
