4 ideal replacements for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer

Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal must surely be coming to a close, with the French manager once again failing to guide his side through the Champions League Round of 16. Whilst there is still another match to play against Bayern Munich, it would take a miracle for the Gunners to overcome their 5-1 deficit.

With Arsenal also falling behind in the Premier League and now facing a real battle to clinch a top-four spot, it seems certain that Arsenal will replace their long-standing manager at the end of the season when his current deal expires.

There seems to be no real reason why Arsene Wenger should remain at the Emirates Stadium and now, after two decades at the club, it would certainly be within the Gunners best interest to move on and bring in a replacement.

Succeeding Wenger at Arsenal will be a difficult job but there is capable options out there, with any of these four selections being able to excel with the Gunners.

Massimiliano Allegri

The 49-year-old Italian is the first-choice for many Arsenal fans calling for change, with the Juventus boss having the tactical ability to improve the Gunners fiercely and challenge for the Premier League title once again.

Having guided Juventus to two Serie A titles and a Champions League final, as well as lifting the Serie A crown with AC Milan in 2011, Allegri is a serial winner. The fact he’s never managed outside of Italy could be seen as an issue by some but he should be able to cope with the challenges.

Thomas Tuchel

The 43-year-old is one of the most exciting young managers in European football and it may be time for the German to move on from Borussia Dortmund, who seem to be struggling to compete at the top of the Bundesliga and may lose their big guns this summer.

After five years with Mainz and two with Borussia Dortmund, Tuchel may feel it’s time to experience a different challenge in European football and Arsenal could be the ideal fit. His transfer policy at Dortmund has been very effective and he’s got the best out of a versatile squad, something he could easily replicate in North London.

Jorge Sampaoli

The Chilean manager could be the key to keeping Alexis Sanchez in North London, as the former international boss has a close relationship with the Gunners superstar. Not only that, Sampaoli has led Sevilla valiantly this season with the Andalusian side fighting at the top of the La Liga standings and advancing to the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

Regarded by many as the ideal replacement for Luis Enrique at Barcelona, the 56-year-old may be a difficult man for Arsenal to capture. However, the Gunners should certainly explore the option of bringing the experienced boss to the Premier League.

Julian Nagelsmann

A name some may be unfamiliar with, 29-year-old Julian Nagelsmann has done a superb job in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim and has given his side a huge chance of qualifying for the Champions League, whilst losing just two league matches so far this season.

The young boss has got the best out of a fairly average Hoffenheim squad and his tactics have proved to be decisive in his rise, with a pressing and counter-attacking style impressing- and it could be the perfect set-up to get the best out of Arsenal.
