Lukas Podolski
There was no doubting that Lukas Podolski was a big name arrival when signing from FC Koln in 2012 and somebody instantly recognisable the world over compared to Lucas Perez.
That said, it just didn’t work out for Podolski in North London with the recently retired German international ending his Arsenal career as somewhat a glorified mascot rather than his efforts on the pitch.
Make no mistake; Podolski was able to find the net in his Gunners’ career ending up with a Premier League goal tally of scoring nearly one every three games (19 in 60 appearances) but he could never nail down a regular starting berth.
With Olivier Giroud holding down the centre forwards’ position as his own in the time that Podolski was at the club, the German’s career has faded off into obscurity following his second crack at a big club in Arsenal between 2012 and 2015.
Now with Galatasaray who are still a huge club worldwide, there is no denying that he has found his level in the inferior Turkish Super Lig.
