5 crucial games in Arsenal’s Premier League title race

Arsenal got their Premier League title push back on track with a 2-0 victory away at Bournemouth and it puts the Gunners right back in the mix heading into what is set to be a crucial few months.

Whilst Arsene Wenger’s side are trailing leaders Leicester City by five points, Arsenal are the only side in the top five to be unbeaten against the other sides in that area of the league. The Foxes, incidentally, are unbeaten against the top five excluding Arsenal.

So there’s plenty of positives for Arsenal fans to grasp onto as we enter the business end of the season but there’s also plenty of crucial games to be played- specifically these five, which will have a direct effect on where Arsenal end up this year.

Arsenal v Leicester: 14th Febuary

Gooners and City fans keep waiting for Leicester to fade away from the title race this season, but after this afternoon’s amazing 3-1 victory over City, it looks like the title is their to lose now.

The Foxes showed steel worthy of champions to go Manchester and take three points and have now put clear distance between them and the chasing pack.

This one at home is an absolute must win to have any chance of a late swing back in our favour and put pressure on Leicester to hold on. Anything but three points in the this one and we could well kiss the title goodbye.

Man United v Arsenal: 28th February

Suddenly United are looking like a side worthy of the clubs reputation, as they have picked up some solid results since the start of 2016 and have started scoring goals again.

We annihilated them at the Emirates earlier in the season, but the stakes are ridiculously high for both sides as we chase the title and look to shore up a Champions League spot.

Old Trafford has lost it’s fear factor completely this season, but we still have to take three points from this one and it wont be easy.

Spurs v Arsenal: 5th March

Spurs have had a solid and unspectacular season, but with a consistent stream of results and a strong team spirit they have risen to within touching distance of winning the title and finishing above us for the first time under Arsene Wenger.

It was a bitter blow to watch them overtake us last weekend and yet again we have to go to the lane and find some way to win to stay in the title challenge and the top four.

West Ham v Arsenal: 9th April

West Ham started as they meant to go on when they beat us 2-0 at the Emirates in the opening game of the season and an away match to the Hammers is no easy trip.

Bilic has them playing like top six European contenders and with the quality in the squad, this one will be a very tough game and a potential banana skin.

Man City v Arsenal: 7th May

By the time this game comes around it could be a title decider, a top four decider or completely meaningless.

Regardless of the context the match is played, it’s likely the race for Champions League football between us, City, United, Spurs and Leicester will be tight and we will need three points.

If the title is still in the grasp for both sides, it will be played out like a final.
