5 reasons Alexis Sanchez will be an Arsenal legend

Alexis Sánchez has had an incredible impact at Arsenal since he joined from Barcelona for £30 Million in 2014. The 27-year-old Chilean is already on his way to becoming a Gunners legend. Here’s why:

Settled into the English game!

Not all foreign players adapt to English football immediately. For some, it takes years. For others, it takes months. For Alexis Sanchez, it took no time at all. Sánchez needed no time to adjust to life in England and has been excellent. He scored 25 goals in his first season at the Emirates with 12 assists. That’s a more successful first season in England than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. It’s no surprise, then, that Sánchez was labelled ‘Arsenal’s best signing of the last six years’ by Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Gold Record

Sánchez has contributed to 63 goals (41 goals & 22 assists) in 90 appearances for Arsenal. That’s incredible. He not only scores, but creates a host of chances. In his two years in the Premier League, the Chilean has created 141 chances. His versatility in being able to create and finish make him one of the world’s finest playmakers.

Prime age

At 27 years of age, Sánchez is in the very midst of his prime: His best three years or so could well be his next, and going by the last two seasons, that’s a wonderful prospect.

Desire

Sánchez’s desire and determination are second to none. He does not walk out for training, he sprints. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, his Arsenal team-mate, has likened him to the Duracell bunny. Sánchez just wants to play and play, and it has always been that way, since he was a boy in Tocopilla in northern Chile. It was a tough place to grow up. His family couldn’t afford to buy football boots for him to play in top team, and Sánchez would kick a ball about wherever he could, on the streets or random patches of land, with two stones marking out the goal. He knew what he wanted as a young boy, and that fire is still burning strong.

World-class

Sánchez combines pace, power, incision and ruthlessness. Add to this a relentless work ethic and you have a world-class player. But it is his personality which makes him so suited to Arsène Wenger and Arsenal. His humble attitude and constant hunger to improve sets him apart from the rest, and sets him up to become an Arsenal legend.
