5 reasons Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich again!

After a heroic performance at the Emirates a few weeks ago, Arsenal have it all to do again against Bayern Munich- this time away from home.

Arsenal’s home victory got their Champions League campaign back on track after two disappointing losses previously and the Gunners are now back in with a shout of advancing to the latter stages of the competition; something a club like Arsenal should be doing on a yearly basis.

Whilst a point will be deemed a decent result, and enough to continue Arsenal’s European turnaround, a victory would be historic, more boosting and would put the Gunners as contenders to go through ahead of Bayern Munich as group winners.

It won’t be easy, with Bayern undefeated at home this season, but Jonathan Kaney has five reasons why Arsenal can overcome the might of the German side once again.

We’ve beaten them once already

As good a reason as any is that we’ve beaten them once already this season. The circumstances are different – we don’t need to attack or win as much as we did at the Emirates – but our victory over them in our last meeting showed that our first eleven can beat them on the night.

We rode our luck at times, but we’ve beaten them before and if we play as well as we did in the first game we can do it again.

Form and momentum is with us

With the win over Bayern to keep our Champions League hopes alive and our recent league form outstanding, confidence is soaring at the club.

We had a blip in the League Cup with our fringe and younger players having a bad night, but that result won’t have any impact on the game against Bayern.

We’ve won 5 league games on the bounce and are raring to go to do the double over the German giants in their backyard.

Their unbeatable form is slipping

After a record breaking winning run in the Bundesliga, Bayern were viewed as almost unbeatable until we defeated them at Emirates.

That defeat may have just knocked their invincibility a bit, as they’ve not been at their best since then and had a disappointing draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in their most recent fixture.

With them struggling to score at the weekend, it’s a good time to take them on.

Alexis Sanchez

We have Alexis Sanchez, and they don’t.

Sanchez has been instrumental for club and country recently and is arguably the most in form and feared player in the world right now. With his goal threat, pace, and infectious determination to chase every ball, Alexis is vital to us taking the game to Bayern.

It would be a brave man to bet against him bagging a goal in the form he’s in.

The German influence in the Arsenal squad

It was great to see Mesut Ozil score a goal to cap our victory at the Emirates after the merciless abuse he took from Bayern fans last season. He’s struggled to cope with it the stick he gets in Germany, but with him in the form of his career he looks set to have the last laugh again.

With him and Per Mertesacker – who was also excellent in the first game – we also have invaluable insight into the German camp and how Bayern’s best players play.
