With all the focus on tonight’s mammoth Champions League tie, Jonathan Kaney has selected five players who have represented both Arsenal and Barcelona.

In Arsene Wenger’s time as manager, Arsenal and Barcelona have had a close relationship as clubs who endorse beautiful football, possession based attacking play, vibrant academies and giving chances to young players.

The recent history, prestige and finances of the two clubs couldn’t be more different since they met in the 2006 Champions League final. The Gunners came to the end of the invincible era and suffered a dip in success with the financial costs of building the Emirates, while Barca entered one of their most successful periods under Pep Guardiola.

Despite the differences in silverware on paper between the two sides over the past few years, there still remains a close bond between them, with plenty of players swapping London for Barcelona and vice versa as a result of similar philosophy and style of play.
