Lacazette. Done.

Now while it may be natural to ponder slightly over what a brilliant signing the Frenchman is for the club, the time for rest Mr Wenger is not now.

Bringing in one signature player is not, nor has it ever been, the answer to the club’s woes, as demonstrated so brilliantly in the summers the club purchased both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

If Arsenal, and indeed Lacazette, are to succeed next season, more is needed, and more specifically support for the former Lyon striker.

Kylian Mbappe would have no doubt been a brilliant acquisition for the club, but having offered an outrageous £87 million, only for it to be declined, it is time to go back to the drawing board. If you ask me, that price for such an unproven youngster is way way way over the top, no matter how much talent he may possess.

The idea of having one of Lacazette’s France compatriots join the club however is a good one, and that is why The Gunners should look no further than Manchester instead and make unsettled United star Anthony Martial their next signing.

Similar to Mbappe, Martial was a wonderkid at Monaco, and enjoyed a terrific first season with the Red Devils. However since the arrival of Jose Mourinho he has struggled (who’d have thought, youth and Mourinho are a match made in heaven, no?) and could be lured away from Old Trafford for regular football.

Martial would be the perfect fit for Wenger’s side. Skilful, direct and an excellent ability on the ball, he would also provide the perfect link up with new man Lacazette having played together for France.

The cost might be steep, not £87 million steep however and it would be a move that would be certain to succeed. A French Revolution at the Emirates.
