Arsenal are a huge club historically with 13 Premier League titles to their name. Many players have had a significant impact on the club throughout its history. Stunning forwards have driven the club to major honours and legendary midfielders have dictated the play in the middle of the park. This season a fresh set of Arsenal stars are bidding to secure a remarkable Premier League success. In doing so they could write their names into history as modern greats of the club.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus only joined the Gunners last summer but he has instantly become a key part of Mikel Arteta’s setup. Either side of an unfortunate injury setback he has been a strong focal point in the Arsenal side. In the odds on the Premier League, Arsenal are now the favourite to win the title offered at 4/6 and Jesus’ return to fitness is a huge boost. He is a complete forward in the sense that he plays a huge role in the build-up stage and also offers goals in the box.

The Gunners struggled to dispatch teams with ease in the Brazilian’s absence. His presence allows nervy encounters to be transformed into convincing victories for Arsenal. Arteta’s side have a small margin for error in their run-in if they are to seal title success. Jesus was even a difference-maker during his injury absence as he added a winning mentality to the dressing room. He could certainly establish legendary status if he manages to spearhead Arsenal’s final steps to success.

Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel Magalhaes is another Brazilian named Gabriel that has played a vital role in Arsenal’s surprising road to the peak of the Premier League standings. He has long been criticised for his tendency to make errors and play with excessive aggression at the back. However, this season he has put that narrative firmly behind him.

He has been imperative at the back regardless of which defenders lined up alongside him. Gabriel helps to constantly organise the defence into a compact shape while also helping the team in the build-up stage. The central defender has even weighed in with crucial goals this season. His aerial dominance when defending could even be compared to the great Sol Campbell in the Invincibles season of 2003/04.

Granit Xhaka

Granit Xhaka may not hold the armband anymore but he is a natural leader on the pitch for Arsenal. He is another player that has helped switch the narrative surrounding himself this season. A few years in the past his relationship with Arsenal fans seemingly reached a point of no return. He was booed off the pitch and later lost his captain’s armband. However, he has rebuilt his connection with the Arsenal support.

In terms of his technical abilities, he is an excellent creative player from the deep areas for the Gunners. But he offers so much more with his ability to lead the side from the middle of the park. He is the natural leader that this Arsenal side requires.

In truth, the entire Arsenal team would be remembered fondly if they were to deliver title success to the Emirates. But the stars mentioned here are some of the standouts. A new signing in Jesus has been crucial despite injury struggles and the others are vital leaders on and off the pitch. Xhaka could complete a fairytale villain-to-hero storyline if he helps his side to league success.
