Mikel Arteta has reacted to Leandro Trossard’s impactful debut in Arsenal’s win over Manchester United on Sunday.

THE LOWDOWN: PLAYED A PART

Trossard completed his switch to Arsenal on Friday as he became the club’s first arrival of the winter transfer window. He came as an alternative after the North London outfit missed out on long-term target Mudryk.

The Former Brighton man was included in the Arsenal squad for the visit of Manchester United and was eventually thrown into the game when the scoreline was still 2-2. He made his impact by getting involved in the build-up to Eddie Nketiah’s winner.

Mikel Arteta also all but confirmed the Gunners’ January deal for Poland international centre-back Jakub Kiwior, with the 22-year-old also at the Emirates to witness the win on Sunday/

THE LATEST: “THEY ARE GOING TO HELP US”

Mikel Arteta shared his verdict on Leandro Trossard’s debut following Arsenal’s win over Manchester United.

Arteta all but confirmed the transfer when he was quizzed about the player watching on from the stands – with Geoff Shreeves asking how important January signings had been – and Arteta confirming that ‘they are going to help us’.

“Just in terms of numbers, we had 15 or 16 outfield players [before signing Trossard and Kiwior] and it wasn’t enough,” the Spaniard told Sky Sports.

‘They are going to help us. You saw Trossard is composed and confident already.”

Reflecting on Arsenal’s best-ever start to a Premier League season, he said:

“It’s great and we deserve to be where we are because of how we’re playing.”

“But there are a lot of things that we can do much better.”

THE VERDICT: GOOD SIGNS

Trossard quickly showed what he’s capable of doing by helping the Gunners battle past a difficult opposition in Manchester United. It was a game the Gunners were struggling to find a breakthrough in its final moments but he was able to add some needed urgency and bite to the attack.
