Folarin Balogun, who is currently on loan at Reims from Arsenal, has become the top scorer in French Ligue 1 after scoring a blistering hattrick on Wednesday night.

THE LOWDOWN: ON FIRE IN FRANCE

Balogun has been superb since he made the move to France in the summer. The youngster, who credited a former teammate for his choice of the Ligue 1, has continued to prove doubters wrong in his own little way.

He has been scoring goals left, right and centre for the French club.

Balogun was expected to get gametime in France but has exceeded expectations by far, taking Ligue 1 by storm.

THE LATEST: HATTRICK SHOW

Balogun kept up his incredible run of form, as he notched a hat trick in Reims’ clash against Lorient on Wednesday evening.

The 21-year-old scored his first from the penalty spot just before half-time before scoring a three-minute brace in the second half as he completed his hat-trick. His third goal was a stupendous finish.

A long ball was played over the top and the Arsenal Academy graduate found the net with a powerful left-footed volley.

Balogun’s hat-trick comes just a few days after he scored a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser for his side against PSG at the Parc des Princes.

He has now become the top goal scorer in Ligue 1 this season, having found the back of the net 14 times in 20 games.

He’s scored more than PSG’s incredible attacking trio, Kylian Mbappe (13), Neymar (12) and Lionel Messi (8).

THE VERDICT: INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE

Balogun continued his fine form in front of goal to help his side nick another win. The youngster is doing his talking on the pitch and it remains to be seen what Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s plans are for him in the summer.
