Defender Ben White has resumed training with Arsenal following his departure from the England camp in Qatar.

THE LOWDOWN: UNEXPECTED EXIT

Ben White has been incredible for Arsenal in the last couple of months, thriving at the right-back position to help the Gunners ascend to the top of the Premier League. Despite his performances, it was not clear whether he would make the England squad to the World Cup.

However, Gareth Southgate handed him a call-up to the Mundial in Qatar. Although he was part of the squad, it was general knowledge that his playing time would be limited due to the presence of Harry Maguire at the heart of the defense, and Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker at right-back.

Surprisingly, White left the camp of the Three Lions midway through the World Cup and has now joined up with the Arsenal squad in Dubai ahead of the return of the Premier League in two weeks’ time.

THE LATEST: RETURN TO ARSENAL

Defender Ben White has returned to Arsenal after leaving the England camp midway through the World Cup.

The Arsenal man left England’s Al-Wakra camp during the group stages after an alleged bust-up with Steve Holland, who is Gareth Southgate’s assistant.

White was pictured on Sunday in the gym – where he hoped on a bike to gain some strength before the Premier League’s return. More snaps of the defender emerged in the spin room, and he was seen laughing and joking alongside Thomas Partey, who was at the World Cup with Ghana as well, on the bikes.

White returns to the Middle East alongside fellow World Cup stars Partey, whose Ghana crashed out in the group stages, and Matt Turner, who exited with the USA in the round of 16. However, it remains unclear when Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale will team up with their club teammates, following England’s exit.

The returning trio could feature for Mikel Arteta in the friendly against AC Milan on Tuesday in the UAE, where the Gunners are currently based.

THE VERDICT: GOOD PLUS

It is a good development to have him back with the squad. He needs to get going again with Arsenal, following his experience in Qatar with the Three Lions. There is no official confirmation about why he had to leave the England squad but it is good to see him back in action for the Gunners.
