Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has suffered a knock and could be out for a long time due to injury.

THE LOWDOWN: FINE CAMPAIGN

Gabriel Jesus switched to Arsenal in the summer and has played a key role in the Gunners’ rise to the top of the Premier League log. Although he’s been finding goals to come by in recent weeks, his importance in Arteta’s attack cannot be underestimated.

Following those exploits, he teamed up with the Brazil squad in Qatar for the World Cup where he has been able to make three appearances. His poor run in front of goal continued and his tournament has now been cut short due to a reported injury.

THE LATEST: LONG LAY-OFF

Arsenal man Gabriel Jesus is set to spend some months on the sidelines, according to a report in the media.

Initially, the forward was ruled out of the rest of the World Cup on Saturday after picking up a knee injury while at the tournament with Brazil, and it is believed the injury is more serious than expected.

According to Sport TV via SB Nation, Premier League leaders Arsenal could be without the key man until March, handing their title ambitions a huge blow.

Brazil will continue their tournament without Jesus, who is expected to return to London. The Selecao will face South Korea in their last-16 match on Monday.

THE VERDICT: BIG BLOW

Arsenal will miss his presence in attack but will need to prosecute games in his absence. By virtue of this development, Arsenal cannot rely on Eddie Nketiah to lead the line alone, so a new forward must be signed next month.
