Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has hailed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ahead of their clash in the North London derby on Saturday.

THE LOWDOWN: MIXED ARSENAL TIME

Mikel Arteta’s time at Arsenal has been filled with ups and downs. The first eight months produced two silverwares, while the past 36 months have not been the best in terms of performance for the Gunners.

Arsenal missed out on a place in this season’s Champions League after losing to Spurs away from home, but it has been a different Gunners side this season.

Arteta and his side are flying high, as they currently sit top of the Premier League log with 18 pts from a possible 21. The only defeat so far this season came at the hands of another top four challengers, Manchester United.

With the North London derby on the horizon, the opposition manager has now heaped praise on Arteta for his work at the Emirates.

THE LATEST: PRAISE FROM RIVAL CAMP

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has praised Mikel Arteta in his pre-match press conference ahead of the North London derby this weekend.

Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates on Saturday. The game will have the Premier League leaders go against one of the only two remaining unbeaten sides in the top flight.

“I know the quality of this team,” he said, as reported by Football London. “I know they are working with Arteta for many years. They are really well organized and Arteta I said last season he is a really good coach.

“He is young but he can have in front of him a great career. We know that Arsenal are one of the six teams that try to take the best position in the Premier League.”

THE VERDICT: ARSENAL MUST TAKE CHARGE

Arsenal and Arteta have to take charge of this game and show their superiority over the visitors on Saturday. Conte edged Arsenal and denied the team a place in this season’s UCL last time out, which means Arteta and his boys have something to fight for this time around.

In order to remain top for another weekend, Arsenal will need to beat Conte’s men at the Emirates and that would further confirm their readiness to challenge for the top four this season.
