Despite claims that Arsenal players could suffer burnout in the coming games, striker Gabriel Jesus has rejected that claim.

THE LOWDOWN: IMPRESSIVE GUNNERS

Arsenal have been impressive all season and this has come as a surprise to many including the club’s supporters. They have basically pushed above their weight as they are currently top of the Premier League log.

Despite all the excellent performances since the season started, talks and propositions have been made about their chances of finishing well after Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Now, a forward, who is also passing through a goal drought, believes the side can continue their run and not lose momentum.

THE LATEST: FORWARD’S CLAIM

Gabriel Jesus believes the suggestions stating that Arsenal players could experience burnout this season are not true, says he has no fear of fatigue during a campaign in which he could feature in almost 60 games for club and country in a season.

Following Arsenal’s return to Europe this season, Arteta has made changes to the squad across the Premier League and the European tournament. Jesus believes achieving his manager’s target would not fatigue him.

“Of course not,” he said.

“I’m doing good recovery after the games: eating better, sleeping better, enjoying life in the Arsenal T-shirt a lot. So I’m ready to play 50, 60, 70 games per season.”

Jesus, who is on a run of five games without a goal, is keen to put an end to the misery, but he is hopeful of returning to scoring in the coming games.

“That’s happened before and I’m pretty sure in the future it’s going to happen again,” he said. “I don’t want it to be like this, of course. I want to improve, I want to work and then next game, I try again. And I’m 100% sure I will score.”

THE VERDICT: POINTS MADE

Gabriel Jesus, whether nursing an injury or suffering from fatigue, has spoken well. In truth, Arsenal’s performances have gone down a level over the past few weeks, especially with the constant rotation in the squads for both the Premier and the Europa League games.

The blip at Southampton opened the doors for this talk again but the Gunners need to respond and get fired up again.
