Gabriel Jesus has been on top form for Arsenal this season but the Brazilian now faces the potential of missing the fixture against Liverpool at the Emirates in October.

THE LOWDOWN: EARLY IMPRESSION

Gabriel Jesus has made quite the impression since his £45m move from Manchester City over the summer.

His strike against Brentford took him to four goals and three assists from seven league games for the Gunners; a tally that arguably sees him as their best player since the start of the season.

Everything seems to be going as expected for the Brazilian but his disciplinary record could yet come in the way.

Jesus has picked up four yellow cards at this early point in the Premier League season, and now faces the possibility of missing one of Arsenal’s big upcoming fixtures.

The Gunners take on Tottenham after the international break and knowing the stakes in that fixture, it would be difficult to assume Jesus would scale through without a booking.

Should he get another yellow card, he will unavailable in the next fixture against Liverpool, in what is another game that could test Arsenal’s true title credentials.

THE LATEST: HANGING BY A THREAD

If we are lucky enough that Jesus avoids a booking from the Tottenham and Liverpool games, he will still need him to avoid getting booked for the next 10 games in order to avoid a suspension, as confirmed by the Express.

Only five other players in the top flight have collected the same number of bookings, while Fulham’s Joao Palhinha got his fifth on Friday to rule him out of the Cottagers’ clash against Newcastle on October 1.

THE VERDICT: INEVITABLE

Even if Jesus escapes a card against Tottenham and Liverpool, the chances of him doing the same for the next 10 games are rather slim and given his pressing style of play upfront, he is always likely to get carded.

In the absence of the Brazilian, Mikel Arteta has Eddie Nketiah to call upon and the Englishman should be able to deliver as well.

Arsenal’s worry about Gabriel Jesus missing one game shows just how important he is to the squad. October is expected to be a testing period for the Gunners and against all odds, it would be much welcome to have our strongest foot on the pitch in all of those games.
